Tuesday evening, Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich was joined by Town Board Members Mike Barry, Brett Granville, Andrew Conlon, and Diana Christodaro for a proclamation ceremony honoring the Bishop Kearney Varsity Girls Softball Team for their numerous athletic accomplishments this season.
The Bishop Kearney Varsity Girls Softball Team ended a 35 year drought this past season by winning the Section V Title. They then proceeded to capture the Western Regional Championship, and finished up the season by winning the New York State Championship in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Pine Plains of Duchess County in Glens Falls, New York. They set a final record of 25-2, and had 22 straight victories this season.
“It was an honor to present the coaches and the Bishop Kearney Varsity Girls Softball Team with proclamations recognizing their outstanding athletic accomplishments this season”. Said Supervisor Bill Reilich. “Their dedication, determination, and hard work resulted in their capture of the New York State Championship”.
